AhlulBayt News Agency - During the morning hours, insurgents loyal to Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam) attacked a checkpoint held by Faylaq Al-Rahman (Al-Rahman Legion) inside Madyara, a town in the East Ghouta region of Damascus.
During the attacks, one Faylaq Al-Rahman militant was killed with 3 others injured; in turn, Jaish al-Islam was able to establish control of approximately half of the town.
A Jaish al-Islam commander said his units had lost no fighters during the morning offensive which was spearheaded by a captured T-72 tank.
The Jaish al-Islam attack was likely retaliation for Faylaq al-Rahman attacking the neighbouring town of Mesraba 9 days ago.
According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), rebel infighting in East Ghouta has led to the death of 450 militants in the past few weeks.
Faylaq Al-Rahman commanders have accused Jaish al-Islam of corruption, saying the Islamist group was unwilling to share war booty and donations from foreign countries.
Not long ago, a video tape was leaked depicting the deceased Jaish al-Islam leader in a heated debate with the leaders hipof supposedly allied rebel groups in eastern Damascus.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has advanced in the southern pocket of East Ghouta, capturing several villages and farms from rebels in the past few days.
